Jul 9, 2016 Mid-Sixties - Impressionable kid in Southern CaliforniaName: Terry C. Tario I grew up in Redondo Beach, California. I would pass the Vasek Polak dealership on PCH in Hermosa Beach once, twice (sometimes more) every day. Looking at the cars inside the dealership and those that were always parked on the street was a rush each and every time. Wow, the race cars and stock cars were stunning. Beautiful. This was in the mid-sixties. I had a bus boy job while in high school at a restaurant at the foot of the Redondo pier and my route to work or surf spots nearly always took me by the Vasek Polak dealership in Hermosa. Looking through those big showroom windows at that time I could only dream of owning a beautiful 911S. A couple “rich guys” in school had Porsches and although I had a cool car too, a ‘55 Chevy Nomad, the Porsche 911S was something I could only dream of owning. I’ve only owned a couple Porches since that time all those years ago and I still have a great-driving ‘84 Carrera. As I think about it a bit, I imagine that if not for the very cool Vasek Polak dealership in Hermosa Beach and the impression it and its cars made on me as a teenager in the South Bay, I may not have developed my love of what is one of the finest cars and brand legacies – ever made. It was a great time to be an impressionable kid in Southern California's South Bay and the Vasek Polak dealership in Hermosa Beach made a hell of an impression on me. Thanks... Terry C. Tario |
